Katibi

Privacy

Katibi is a free experiment that helps people write letters and messages from their voice.

What we store: your voice recordings, the text we transcribed, the text we wrote for you, your chosen options, your approximate country, your browser type (user agent), a keyed one-way hash of your IP address, and a random device ID kept in your browser. We do not ask for your name, phone number or email.

Why: to provide the service, to prevent abuse, and to improve speech recognition and writing quality for Arabic dialects and Somali.

Where: recordings and texts are stored privately (never publicly accessible) on Amazon Web Services and kept for up to 3 years, then deleted. To transcribe and write, they are sent to AI providers through OpenRouter (e.g. Google Gemini).

Analytics: Google Analytics counts visits and which features are used; it never receives your recordings or texts. In the EU, UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are off by default.

We never sell your data. Please do not include passwords, card numbers or other secrets in your recordings.

To ask for deletion of your recordings, email [email protected] with the approximate date and time you used Katibi.
